Meet the Team

Kayla Squox — Founder & Lead Designer

Kayla is the founder of Dark Horse Syndicate LLC and the creator behind White Horse, Lethonia, and the company’s growing lineup of games, stories, products, and interactive experiences.

Her work spans worldbuilding, game design, writing, product development, branding, creative direction, and long-term project planning. She is especially focused on building original experiences that mix dark fantasy, strange humor, identity, agency, consequence, and player choice.

Dark Horse Syndicate was created not only to build ambitious creative projects, but to grow into something that can create opportunities for other artists, designers, developers, and community members along the way.

Kayla also believes that business should give something back. As Dark Horse Syndicate grows, part of its mission is to support food pantries, community organizations, and nonprofit work that helps people who are too often overlooked.

Known for: overbuilding everything, hiding lore in places nobody asked for, and apparently creating gameplay bonuses for socks.

Upcoming Events…

On October 3rd at the Labor Temple, Dark Horse Syndicate will be hosting a community tabletop gaming event featuring White Horse, our original dark-fantasy role-playing game. Attendees will be able to learn the game, meet the creator, see current development progress, and participate in introductory play sessions and demonstrations.

The event will also include pizza and drinks, with food being used as part of the participation incentives to help keep the event casual, social, and welcoming for new players. Attendees can come to play, watch, ask questions, connect with other gamers, and get an early look at the growing White Horse community.
